Strongest for 40 years flood in Thailand 20 people have died in Thailand as a result of strongest for last 40 years flood. Meanwhile, authorities expect that amount of victims from disaster will grow.

As the head of south regional department of natural catastrophes prevention and rescue operations conducting Center Suvit Kanilkul informed, several provinces along frontier with Malaysia are under water.

For last 3 days 14 people have died and 2 are missing in 7 frontier provinces, another 6 people are considered dead in Nakhonsitkhammarat province. By words of Kanilkul more than 1 million people have suffered from flood, caused by unceasing downpours.

Almost 800 roads are washed out, about 1 thousands of houses destroyed, 120 bridges, 83 cathedral and mosques are damaged. About 1 million hectares of rice crops, orchards and rubber plantations are flooded. As a result of flood 2 thousands head of cattle have died.

By tentative estimate, damage from flood amounted to $24 millions.
